SentiMetrix selected to participate in the DARPA Healing Heroes Initiative: aiding Service members and their families suffering from psychological illnesses

SentiMetrix, Inc has been awarded a sub-contract, via the Center for International Rehabilitation (CIR), as a contributor to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) “Healing Heroes” Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) on web-based approaches for medical and psychological health social networking, care delivery/telehealth, and informatics for Service members and their families suffering from psychological illnesses including traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A high percentage of Service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer clinical levels of major depressive disorder, PTSD, and/or the effects of TBI. Ongoing hurdles in the destigmatization of the psychological health process and in the encouragement to utilize psychological and medical services by those affected by these disorders have been daunting. SentiMetrix, as part of the team led by the CIR, plans to leverage its technology and expertise in automated sentiment analysis of textual content, by providing analytical tools and services to help the team pinpoint, track and interpret relevant trends and critical topics in the data collected by the project. The two-year program commenced in mid March 2011, with an anticipated live date in Summer 2013. "This is an innovative application of our core technology, demonstrating growing recognition of the importance of automated sentiment analysis," said Vadim Kagan, president of SentiMetrix, "We are really happy that the flexibility of our software allows it to be used for such a worthy cause."
